 Devastation of Cyclone Finjal, 18 Dead





Due to the impact of Cyclone Finjal, 15 people have died in Sri Lanka, and three in India. Heavy rainfall is occurring in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry as a result. Additionally, heavy rains and strong winds caused by the cyclone have disrupted train services and flight operations in Chennai. The airport has been declared closed. 

According to a report by India's local media outlet News-18, Cyclone Finjal made landfall at around 11 PM on Saturday, November 30. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that the cyclone has since weakened into a low-pressure system. In Tamil Nadu, schools and colleges have been declared closed, and many people have been evacuated to safer areas. All flights at Chennai Airport were suspended until 4 AM on Sunday.

In some parts of Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, flooding has been reported. Officials stated that at least three people died in rain-related incidents, including electrocution, in Chennai on Saturday. Meanwhile, the impact of Cyclone Finjal has resulted in 15 deaths in Sri Lanka, with 10 of them reported in the eastern region. Heavy rains have caused flooding, affecting 450,000 people. The highest level of alert has been issued.
